We are delighted to share one of our most comprehensive recent projects, completed near Sotogrande: a large 15 × 7 metre fully insulated timber garden building designed as a private wellness centre.
The bespoke building combines a spacious home gym, massage room, home SPA, sauna and additional functional spaces, together with an approximately 30 m² covered wooden terrace positioned directly in front of the sauna.
The result is a high-quality year-round space dedicated to fitness, wellness and relaxation, combining a strong timber structure, complete insulation, premium Thermo Wood exterior cladding, large wooden bifold doors and carefully designed interior spaces.
With approximately 75 m² of interior space, the building provides enough room to create several dedicated wellness areas without making the interior feel crowded.

Each space has been designed around a different part of the wellness experience, while the overall layout keeps the building feeling like one coherent environment.
The home gym is one of the main features of the building. It includes two premium wooden bifold doors, each approximately 3 metres wide, together with two tall wall windows.
The large folding doors allow the gym to be opened towards the garden, bringing in natural light, fresh air and a strong connection with the outdoor space.
The natural timber doors also complement the Thermo Wood exterior cladding, creating a warm and contemporary appearance.
The building includes a dedicated massage room and a separate home SPA, accessed through a beautiful wooden sliding door.
On the right-hand side of the building is the private sauna, creating a dedicated relaxation area connected directly with the covered outdoor terrace.
For the sauna, the client selected a Harvia Cilindro electric heater, a well-known Finnish sauna brand, together with approximately 100 kg of sauna stones for a smooth and enjoyable sauna experience.
The sauna interior was finished with Nordic spruce, including the benches and backrest made of Thermo Aspen. Premium wooden sauna doors and LED lighting beneath the benches and behind the backrest complete the modern and cosy atmosphere.
Due to the considerable size of the building and its different uses, particular attention was given to structural strength.
Selected wall sections were reinforced around the large openings and doors, while 28 mm extra-thick floorboards provide a strong and stable floor suitable for gym equipment and wellness facilities.
The roof and floor were insulated with Recticel PIR insulation panels, while the external walls were insulated with mineral wool installed between the external timber frame.
A wind barrier membrane was then added to protect the insulation and improve the overall performance of the wall system.
The result is a comfortable, fully insulated building suitable for use throughout the year.
For the exterior finish, the client selected premium Thermo Wood wall cladding.
Thermo Wood provides a natural and contemporary appearance while being particularly well suited to exterior applications. Its warm tones and natural texture work beautifully with the timber structure, wooden bifold doors and large terrace.
The entire exterior cladding was finished with two coats of high-quality wood oil, enhancing the natural appearance of the timber while providing additional protection against weather conditions and UV exposure.
The combination of the timber structure, insulation, Thermo Wood cladding and two-coat oil finish gives the building a premium and durable exterior.
Because the building combines a gym, SPA, sauna, massage room and additional spaces, the electrical and air-conditioning installations required careful planning.
Cables and other necessary installations were integrated into the external wall structure during construction, before the final insulation and cladding layers were completed.
This approach allowed the technical systems to be incorporated while maintaining a clean and uncluttered final appearance.
One of the key exterior features is the approximately 30 m² covered Thermo-Wood terrace located directly in front of the sauna.
Rather than simply being an extension of the building, the terrace was designed as a dedicated outdoor relaxation area. The canopy provides shade and protection from the sun, while the position next to the sauna makes it ideal for cooling down and relaxing after a sauna session.
The wooden decking and timber canopy also complement the Thermo Wood exterior, creating a seamless connection between the wellness building and the garden.
The finished project is much more than a conventional garden room. It is a private wellness centre designed around the owner’s lifestyle, bringing together exercise, massage, SPA treatments, sauna and outdoor relaxation.
From working out in the bright and spacious gym, to enjoying a massage or SPA session, followed by time in the sauna and relaxing outside on the covered terrace, every area has a clear purpose.
The combination of 15 × 7 metre dimensions, complete insulation, premium Thermo Wood cladding, large wooden bifold doors, Thermo Aspen sauna interior, Harvia heater and approximately 30 m² covered Thermo-Wood terrace creates a unique year-round wellness space.
This project near Sotogrande demonstrates what can be achieved with a fully bespoke timber garden building, carefully designed around the client’s requirements and lifestyle while combining natural materials, comfort, functionality and high-quality construction.
