  • Finding the right Harvia sauna heater

Every sauna in our Fjord series can be fitted with a Harvia electric heater, with five models to choose from in the Harvia Cilindro range. All five share the same design and build quality — the differences come down to two things: heating power and whether they have Wi-Fi. The short guide below will help you match a heater to your sauna, the Spanish climate and the electricity supply at your property.

How to choose the right heater

    1. How big is your sauna, and how will you use it?

A heater’s power (kW) determines how large a room it can heat and how quickly it gets there. In much of Spain the climate is warm and winters are mild, so a small or mid-range heater is usually all you need — especially if you’ll mainly enjoy the sauna in the cooler evenings, in spring and autumn. If your sauna is larger, sits inland or at altitude where nights turn colder, or you simply prefer a fast, intense heat, choose a more powerful model. Each heater below shows its recommended room volume in cubic metres (m³).

    2. What electrical supply do you have?

The PC90 and PC110 models require a three-phase (400V) supply. Since many Spanish homes have only a standard single-phase (230V) connection, the PC70 models are often the easier choice: they run on either single-phase or three-phase — though on single-phase the sauna takes a little longer to reach temperature. Check your supply before ordering (or ask your electrician). The heater must be installed by a qualified, authorised electrician.

    3. Would you like to control the sauna from your phone?

The “XW” models — the PC70XW and PC90XW — include Wi-Fi. With the free MyHarvia app (iOS and Android) you can switch the sauna on, set a timer and adjust the temperature from anywhere, so it’s warm and ready when you arrive. The “XE” models use the same Xenio control panel, simply without Wi-Fi.

The five heaters at a glance

Model Power Recommended sauna size Wi-Fi Electrical connection
    Harvia PC70XE 6.8 kW 6–10 m³ (small) No Single-phase (230V) or three-phase (400V)
    Harvia PC70XW 6.8 kW 6–10 m³ (small) Yes Single-phase (230V) or three-phase (400V)
    Harvia PC90XE 9.0 kW 8–14 m³ (medium–large) No Three-phase (400V) only
    Harvia PC90XW 9.0 kW 8–14 m³ (medium–large) Yes Three-phase (400V) only
    Harvia PC110XE 10.8 kW 9–18 m³ (large) No Three-phase (400V) only

Tip: In a warm climate you rarely need the largest heater — match the power to your sauna’s size first. If in doubt between two, the higher-powered one simply reaches temperature a little faster.

A closer look at each heater

    Harvia PC70XE Cilindro sauna heater

    Harvia PC70XE

The most practical choice for most Spanish homes. At 6.8 kW, this heater suits smaller saunas — a great match for the milder climate. It’s the only model that runs on an ordinary single-phase (230V) supply, so it fits homes without a three-phase connection. Operated with the Xenio control panel (no Wi-Fi).

    Heating power 6.8 kW
Recommended sauna size 6–10 m³ (small saunas)
    Wi-Fi / app control No
    Electrical connection Single-phase (230V) or three-phase (400V)
    Sauna stones (max.) 90 kg

    Harvia PC70XW Cilindro sauna heater

    Harvia PC70XW

The practical choice, now with Wi-Fi. The same 6.8 kW heater as the PC70XE, with Wi-Fi added. Switch on and schedule your sauna from the MyHarvia app, while keeping the flexibility of a single-phase connection. Ideal for smaller saunas where you’d like app control.

    Heating power 6.8 kW
Recommended sauna size 6–10 m³ (small saunas)
Wi-Fi / app control Yes — MyHarvia app (iOS / Android)
    Electrical connection Single-phase (230V) or three-phase (400V)
    Sauna stones (max.) 90 kg

    Harvia PC90XE Cilindro sauna heater

    Harvia PC90XE

More power for medium and larger saunas. At 9 kW, a strong choice for medium and larger cabins, or for cooler inland and higher-altitude locations. Requires a three-phase supply. Operated with the Xenio control panel (no Wi-Fi).

    Heating power 9.0 kW
Recommended sauna size 8–14 m³ (medium–large saunas)
    Wi-Fi / app control No
    Electrical connection Three-phase (400V) only
    Sauna stones (max.) 90 kg

    Harvia PC90XW Cilindro sauna heater

    Harvia PC90XW

9 kW of power, plus app control. The 9 kW heater with Wi-Fi built in. Ideal for larger saunas and year-round use, with full control from the MyHarvia app. Requires a three-phase supply.

    Heating power 9.0 kW
Recommended sauna size 8–14 m³ (medium–large saunas)

    Harvia PC110XE Cilindro sauna heater

    Harvia PC110XE

Our most powerful heater. At 10.8 kW, this is the heater for the largest Fjord saunas. It holds 120 kg of stones for plenty of soft, even steam and brings big cabins up to temperature quickly. Requires a three-phase supply. Operated with the Xenio control panel (no Wi-Fi).

    Heating power 10.8 kW
Recommended sauna size 9–18 m³ (large saunas)
    Wi-Fi / app control No
    Electrical connection Three-phase (400V) only
    Sauna stones (max.) 120 kg

What all five heaters have in common

All five are Harvia Cilindro pillar heaters. Their tall, cylindrical shape wraps the heating elements in a large bed of sauna stones — 90 kg, or 120 kg on the PC110. Air rises through the full column of hot stones, giving an even, soft and humid steam (löyly) from floor to ceiling. The slim stainless-steel body takes up little floor space and suits a modern sauna interior.

Every heater comes with a separate Xenio control panel that mounts on the wall, with a temperature range of 40–110°C. The two “XW” models add Wi-Fi and the MyHarvia app on top of that same panel.

    Shared specifications

Note: Technical figures (power, room volumes, weights, electrical data) are based on Harvia’s specifications. Recommended sauna sizes are a guide — your installer can confirm the right heater for your specific cabin and supply.
