We recently completed a custom-built wooden guest house in the beautiful coastal city of Santander, Cantabria. Designed as a high-quality rental cabin for tourists, this project combines smart layout planning, solid construction, and a warm, natural finish that blends perfectly into its private garden setting.
The guest house is a custom-made 8 × 5 metre log cabin, offering a total internal area of 40 m². Built with 70 mm thick solid wood walls, the cabin provides excellent insulation, durability, and year-round comfort—ideal for both summer visitors and cooler Cantabrian seasons.
The cabin is located in a private garden next to the main residential building, creating a peaceful and secluded space while remaining conveniently close to the main property. Its purpose is to serve as a tourist rental accommodation, offering guests privacy, comfort, and a strong connection to the outdoors.

The interior is cleverly divided into two equal halves, each measuring 20 m². This symmetrical layout allows the cabin to function as either:
Each half features:
The bi-fold doors are fitted with double glazing and can open almost the entire front façade. This design floods the interior with natural light and allows guests to fully open the space during warm summer days—perfect for enjoying the fresh air and garden views.

The full installation of the cabin was completed in just four days, demonstrating both efficient planning and experienced craftsmanship.
As part of the build, we also installed:
The roof was finished with a self-adhesive roofing shingle in a red colour, adding both weather protection and a classic visual contrast to the wooden structure.
Finishing Touches
To protect the wood and enhance its natural beauty, the entire cabin was treated with Remmers HK Lasur in a Rustic Oak colour. This high-quality finish not only provides long-term protection against weather conditions but also gives the cabin a warm, elegant appearance that fits beautifully into its garden surroundings.
The completed guest house is a versatile, well-insulated, and visually striking wooden cabin, perfectly suited for short-term tourist rentals in Cantabria. With its flexible layout, modern access through wide bi-fold doors, and private bathroom facilities in each unit, it offers comfort and privacy for guests while maximizing rental potential for the owner.
This project is a great example of how thoughtful design, quality materials, and efficient installation can come together to create a standout rental property—ready to welcome visitors to one of Spain’s most scenic regions.
