We’re pleased to be able to show you pictures of the construction of a 100 m² log cabin we’ve recently finished for a client near Sevilla.
The house was built to provide additional accommodation for a family who grows olives and produces olive oil. The main house had become too small for the family, and they needed additional accommodation for the eldest son, his wife and two children.
As the site for the future building was surrounded by olive trees and our client wanted to avoid major building works with a lot of dust and dirt, our prefabricated wooden house was the ideal solution for his project.
Our client chose the three-bedroom log cabin Holiday L for his project – one of our most luxurious log cabins. It incorporates all our best features, such as maximum 92 mm wall thickness, premium ‘Living’ range double-glazed doors and knot free timber windows. Such doors and windows provide exceptional weather and thermal insulation. The cabin kit includes metal storm braces and reinforcing metal bars throughout the walls. It also features a very spacious, 50 m² open-plan living and dining area with full height windows to take in the views and create a bright interior cabin. These open onto a 20 m² veranda with patio decking to maximize the living area and provide excellent comfort and enjoyment.
In addition to the standard cabin kit, our client also opted for a roof and floor insulation kit, bitumen roofing shingles and stone pine larch wood preservative for the exterior and transparent wood oil for the interior of the cabin.
Before the log cabin’s components were delivered, our customer built a concrete base using the cabin plans we sent him. This work was carried out by a local contractor who poured a 15 cm concrete base and installed the main electrical box and drainage.
The next step was to assemble the log cabin, then the floor and roof insulation, and finally the bitumen shingles.
All the painting was done by our client himself. It took two weekends to finish all the exterior and interior surfaces. The exterior surfaces were treated with Remmers HK Stain RC-260 (Stone-Pine Larch) and the interior surfaces were treated with transparent wood oil (Remmers All Purpose).
The entire project of building this log cabin took two months from order to completion. The cabin kit was produced and delivered in six weeks, and the assembly was completed in ten days. The whole building was completed within a budget of €100 000 including the plinth, log cabin kit, insulation, roofing materials, paints and all the work we carried out.
If you are considering building a weekend home, cottage or permanent home, our log cabin kits are well worth considering. Compared to a concrete building, you will save a lot of time, money and avoid dirty and dusty work.
All our log cabins come with a five-year factory guarantee, but with the right wood preservative, they will last for generations.
